Our Story

Simply Northwest started in May 1989 as a home-based gift basket service helping companies acknowledge and show appreciation for their employees and clients. As demand rose from non-corporate clientele, in 1994 a gift boutique was opened at the current location in Spokane Valley, WA.

In 2011, after five years as the previous owner’s retail manager, Denielle Waltermire-Stuhlmiller purchased Simply Northwest, excited to carry on the long-standing tradition of personalized service and attention to detail.

Meet Our Owner and Gift Designer

Denielle Waltermire-Stuhlmiller As the owner of Simply Northwest, Denielle Waltermire-Stuhlmiller wears all the hats. From leading creative direction and product selection to assisting customers on the floor, she’s deeply involved in every part of the business. Denielle’s hands-on approach ensures that Simply Northwest isn’t just a gift shop, it’s a warm, joyful destination where people feel appreciated, celebrated, and inspired.

Denielle believes in cultivating a workplace filled with positivity, teamwork, and laughter. She leads by example, working side-by-side with her team to ensure every order, display, and customer experience reflects the heart of Simply Northwest. Whether she’s designing new gift baskets, updating seasonal displays, or helping a customer find the perfect gift, her passion for connection and community shines through.

Her vision is simple yet powerful: to create a store that brings happiness to everyone who walks through its doors and a workplace where every team member feels valued and proud of the joy they help spread.

Denielle is a wife and mother to two children and she loves the simple pleasure of family time after a day at work. They enjoy a variety of activities, with time at the river in the summer at the top of the list.

Emily is our talented, organized, and truly amazing Operations Manager. Her leadership skills and dedication help keep Simply Northwest running seamlessly each and every day. Working closely with Denielle, Emily ensures that every customer, order, and detail receives the utmost care and attention. She’s the Queen of multitasking, effortlessly juggling responsibilities with grace and precision and her upbeat, positive attitude inspires everyone around her. Emily’s commitment to excellence and her genuine care for both customers and teammates make her an essential part of what makes Simply Northwest shine.
Lucia Janssen

Lucia is both a Lead Retail Sales Associate and a talented Baker who brings warmth and joy to Simply Northwest every single day. She greets every customer with a genuine smile and kind heart, making each person who walks through the door feel welcome and appreciated. Her positive energy and friendly personality create an inviting atmosphere that our customers love. In addition to her outstanding customer service, Lucia takes great pride in her work as a baker, crafting delicious treats that perfectly complement our gift selections. Her dedication, care, and cheerful spirit shine through in everything she does, making her an essential and much-loved member of our team.
Dee Dee Christian

Dee Dee is our amazing bookkeeper and the organizational heart of Simply Northwest. A true whiz with numbers, she keeps everything running smoothly and efficiently behind the scenes. Her dedication to Simply Northwest shines through in everything she does , from ensuring the details are always just right to offering a helping hand whenever it’s needed. Dee Dee’s kindness and willingness to support others make her an invaluable part of our team. She’s also the cheerful and welcoming voice you’ll often hear when calling our store, always ready to assist with a smile and make every interaction a pleasant one.

Janet is our most experienced retail sales associate. She greets everyone with a friendly smile and has a passion for providing excellent customer service. Her customers quickly become her friends and return time and time again.
Becky Hattenburg

Becky is our talented and creative lead part-time Gift Basket Designer. With a keen eye for detail and a natural flair for design, she has an incredible talent for assembling gorgeous gifts and stunning baskets that leave a lasting impression. Every order she creates is completed with care, precision, and perfection. Becky’s ability to craft the perfect, beautiful bow is truly unmatched, adding the finishing touch that makes each basket feel extra special. Her dedication, creativity, and pride in her work shine through in every gift she designs, making her an invaluable part of the Simply Northwest team.
Brandie Hagreen

Brandie is one of our talented bakers behind some of Simply Northwest’s most beloved treats: our famous soft peanut brittle and Grandma Rubin’s Peppernuts Cookies. Her skill and passion in the kitchen make every batch truly special. Beyond her baking talents, Brandie is a joy to have around, her positive spirit fills the kitchen, and her dedication to quality and care shines through in every creation.
